EPP PhD student Fan Tong, EPP PhD alumna Ivonne Peña, and EPP Professor, Inês Azevedo, recently published an Op-Ed at the TheEnergyCollective.com on the recent U.S.-China joint announcement on climate change. They believed that “the pledge by the Chinese government to ‘achieve peaking of CO2 emissions around 2030’ is a positive sign”, but they were concerned the large uncertainty still remained with how U.S. and China delivered their promises. If substantial changes are not happening, “China could surpass cumulative US CO2 emissions by 2026″.
